Are you excited and scared?

Something I often hear from prospective new consultants, or from those who are getting ready to launch, is that they are feeling both excited and scared simultaneously. That’s a good thing. Making this move is a big deal; a huge change for most people. But if it’s not a prospect that makes you feel really excited, it’s not the right thing to do.

Maybe you’re not ready yet, which is fine. Lots of people mull over this decision for literally years until they’re ready professionally and personally. If you’re not feeling excited, park the idea for a while and let it simmer. It might be right for you later on. If you’re thinking of working with a franchise like us, does the brand excite you? Does what you’re hearing about how it works, and finding out about the people you’d be working with make you feel excited? If not, then it might not be the right option for you.

But feeling a bit scared is ok, and probably sensible. If someone wasn’t feeling a bit nervous as well as excited, I would be concerned they hadn’t got a proper appreciation of the hard work involved, or the risk, or the scale of the change from their current working life. And it’s difficult enough to manage that without having to also deal with the fact you weren’t properly appreciating how difficult or different it would be.

So if you’ve been toying with the idea of consultancy for a while, and are feeling a bit excited at the prospect but also nervous about what it entails and what it will be like, get in touch and have a chat, to help you work out whether it’s a good step for you, and whether doing it with us would be the right decision.
