Starting your own business is a big change and the first three months in particular can be an anxious time. It’s really important to us that you are as successful as possible as quickly as possible, so we’ve developed a programme designed to achieve just that!
Our Flying Start programme makes the most of every moment of that first 12-week period, with additional training, activities and structured coaching while you’re getting up to speed, getting used to your new working life and starting to get client work coming in.
We look at four different areas as part of this programme:
Business ownership and mindset – goal setting, dealing with moments of doubt and worry, understanding terms of business, engagement letters, partnership documents and other legal issues.
Marketing – going into more detail on marketing activities, such as how to build your contacts list, how to do a memorable one-minute pitch, creating a client avatar and how to use it, using marketing avenues like partnerships, exhibitions and PR activities, how to convert a lead into a sale, upselling and cross-selling; and reviewing and reflecting on marketing so that you can continually adjust to make it as effective as possible.
Client engagement – how to conduct your first new client meeting, reviewing client documents and developing an effective proposal, how to set fees for clients (and how to frame them so that clients feel they are getting excellent value).
Products and services – developing your employment law knowledge into greater depth, applying employment law in the context of an SME, understanding exactly how you will work with clients in the different areas of HR, preventing legal claims, using our documents database.
